Rooﬁng felt

Use ﬂashing EDL/EBL/EKL for installation of VELUX roof windows

in roofs with rooﬁng felt and a roof pitch steeper than 15°. The

ﬂashing must be positioned between the rooﬁng felt layers with

correct overlaps which means that the order below must be

observed.

IN NEW ROOF

After having ﬁnished the boarding or sarking, and establishing

window aperture in roof, install the window.

1 Position bottom layer of rooﬁng felt on the roof surface around

the window. Ensure that the rooﬁng felt covers approx 50 mm of

the frame on all sides.

Note: Use a cold adhesive instead of naked ﬂames that might

damage the window and the frame insulation collar from installa-

tion set BDX, if any.

2 Position top layer of rooﬁng felt below the window – butt the

rooﬁng felt to the bottom frame.

3 Fit ﬂashing EDL. Distribute side soakers evenly along the sides of

the window.

4-5-6 Position top layer of rooﬁng felt at top and sides of the

window.

IN EXISTING ROOF

Installation in existing roof follows the same principle as in new

roof with a few exceptions.

• Cut hole in existing roong felt where the window is to be in-

stalled (see installation instructions) and install the window.

• Position four strips of roong felt and lead it approx 50 mm up

the frame all the way round.

• Fit ashing EDL.

• Position top layer of roong felt along sides and above window. It

is recommended to continue the rooﬁng felt to the ridge to avoid

horizontal edges in the rooﬁng felt.
